“Lincoln Luck“ charactersA girl (26 years) who lives in 2026. She lives in the memory of a father.
A man who lived to be 80 and who used to dance with his daughter.
A child who wrote lots of notes to remember his words.
A woman whose art the girl watched with the memory of a father
A boy whose always understood the potential of art
A man celebrating his 57th birthday
The seed for this performance, “Lincoln Luck“, was possibly planted in the late 1980s in my childhood home in Bristol, Va. 7 years old. My father, an actor, preparing to create the image of the late president Abraham Lincoln. Preparing in our den next to the kitchen.
I grew up with Lincoln. My father recreated Lincoln. I’m a daughter of art.
So 21 years later I think… If art can bring the image of Lincoln towards a daughter he never had, it’s luck right…?
If my father is Lincoln and i’m still his daughter then art has transformed. If one single event were different, my entire life would be so. Abraham Lincoln disappeared from his life at the age of 56 on April 15th, 1865. He has continued to reappear in mine.
My intentions before and during this creation of “Lincoln Luck“have been (and are) to leave the present of which I don’t have full control and imagine the future. I’ve approached this process, of course, with the knowledge that once the future is the present I will fail to stay in full control. I’m happy to reach the present.
Luck will prevail
