The Roots Mural Project continues to move forward with exciting design concepts, a talented group of artists (Amber Collective featuring Tatyana Fazlalizadeh), innovative art education curriculum, and public programming.
Mural Arts invites the public to participate in the making of this large-scale mural by visiting our new studio space at 327 South Street, where exhibitions, demonstrations, painting activities, and other events will be held throughout the year, beginning on Friday, April 27 with an exhibition by Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, one of the muralists.

Paris’s reputation as a a city of architectural beauty is long-held and its emblematic structures have influenced generations of Philadelphia architects and designers. This cultural exchange is the subject of Bastille to Broad Street: The Influence of France on Philadelphia Architecture, now on show at the Athenaeum of Philadelphia as part of the Philadelphia International Festival of Arts.
Ballet X Performs Proliferation of the Imagination as part of PIFA
PIFA, the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts, is themed after Paris in the early 1900s, but a larger, overarching motif of the Festival is artistic collaboration. Much like the artist scene in Paris 100 years ago, PIFA celebrates interdisciplinary artistic experimentation. One such collaboration is a first time cross over between The Wilma Theater and its resident dance company Ballet X. The collaboration resulted in Proliferation of the Imagination, inspired by the surrealist Guillaume Apollinaire’s The Mammaries of Tirésias.
French + Philadelphia Chefs Partner During PIFA
As part of PIFA’s culinary offerings, a contingent of renowned French chefs will be meeting with host chefs to form a partnership that will be friendly on Philadelphia’s palette.
